In the church, almost everybody is a volunteer. The group called Namirembe Cathedral Volunteers is a sub-group of volunteers in the Cathedral. The group was regularized in 2000 when a formal registration process of people who wanted to take up volunteer roles started.

WHAT WE'VE ACHIEVED IN 25 YEARS
  1. We computerized the Cathedral Accounts from a Manual system
  2. We computerized official records of the Cathedral [marriages, confirmation]
  3. We mobilized the Cathedral congregation to fund-raise and implement a modern sound system
  4. We mobilized the Cathedral congregation to fund-raise and install digital display screens in the Cathedral [Screens project]
  5. We established a Cathedral Newsheet
  6. We published the first ever Cathedral Magazine
  7. We started the first Cathedral website so successful that it attracted the Commonwealth team from UK during CHOGM
  8. We established Sandra Project, a project to support a volunteer who lost a mother (also a volunteer) at the age of 10. The Volunteer team has brought up this child. She is now 20 years and has now completed a course in Early Childhood development to start nursery teaching.
  9. We have provided Youth Leadership and Development training including hands-on soft skills training.
  10. We re-branded some of the official documents of the Cathedral e.g. Baptism Registration Form, Marriage Registration Form, Cathedral letterhead, offertory envelops.
Youth Leadership
  1. We installed pamphlet holders in the Cathedral for Offertory envelops e.t.c.
  2. Many of the Volunteer alumni have become church lay leaders not only in Namirembe Cathedral but also in other Churches.
  3. We started a project to support at least 3 children at Sanyu Babies Home.
  4. In 2006 we started one of the most popular program, the Gospel Music Rally.
  5. We created the first ever directory of Cathedral congregation
  6. In the early years of 2000 we partnered with radio stations [Spirit FM, Africa Bible College] to air Cathedral sermons on radio
  7. We have established an annual program of Volunteer Retreats for purposes of giving opportunity to (especially less privileged) youth to get exposure and socialization
  8. We have established a program where we host Cathedral Clergy to a Christmas Dinner
  9. Through the networking opportunities we have helped some of our members to get education, and job placements
